Disclaimer

What ToolZool's tools and guides are, what they are not, and the one habit that protects you from every failure mode.

Keep your originals

If you take one thing from this page: never run a tool on the only copy of something you cannot replace.

Compression is lossy and irreversible. A tool cannot un-compress an image back to its original quality, and neither can we. Work from a copy, and keep the original somewhere safe.

Tools are provided without warranty

We build carefully and we test, but ToolZool’s tools are provided as is. We do not guarantee that a tool is free of defects, that it will produce a particular result, or that a result will be accepted by whatever system you are submitting it to.

Where a tool gives guidance — for instance, what typically fits inside a given file size — that guidance describes usual behaviour, not a guarantee about your particular file.

Guides are editorial, not professional advice

Our written guides are the considered opinion of the people building the tools. They are not legal, financial, medical or professional advice of any kind.

Where a guide states something as fact, we have tried to state it accurately and to distinguish between what is measured and what is general guidance. Where we have not yet measured something, we say so rather than implying precision we do not have.

Figures and claims

We do not publish traffic figures, user counts, testimonials or ratings that we cannot substantiate. If a number is not on this site, that is usually because we do not yet have a number we would be willing to stand behind.

Compatibility

Tools depend on features of your browser. An old browser, a locked-down corporate environment or an extension that blocks scripts can each prevent a tool from working. Where we know a specific requirement, it is stated on the tool’s page.

We link to other sites where they are useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.

Reporting a problem

If a tool produces a wrong result, or a guide says something inaccurate, please tell us through the contact page. We would rather correct it than have it stand.

Who operates ToolZool

ToolZool has only just launched and its operator details are not yet published here. We would rather leave this blank than print a placeholder that looks like a legal entity. It will be filled in, and this notice removed, before the site carries advertising or accepts any payment. In the meantime you can reach us through the contact page.
